November 1st is All Saints' Day, a Christian holiday celebrated by various denominations. It is a day to remember and honor all the saints, known and unknown, who have attained heaven. It's observed on November 1st by Western churches and on the first Sunday after Pentecost in Eastern churches.
In some cultures, it is followed by All Souls' Day on November 2nd, a day for praying for the souls of the dead.
Additionally, November 1st often marks the beginning of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), an annual internet-based creative writing project that encourages participants to write a 50,000-word novel during the month of November.
